Making a {Maternity} Home

Nothing is easy in Africa. Shopping is challenging. Transportation and delivery difficult. Bargaining and budgeting is stressful.

The huge house was cleaned, on hands and knees:

Prisca (young lady assisting Maureen):

Maureen spent 12+ hours each day, walking from store to store, comparing prices, frustrated that high fuel costs increased her quotes.  Fabric for curtains to offer privacy over the large window were ordered, couches were handmade (much cheaper than buying pre-made).

7 Custom beds with attached cribs were built (plus 3 without cribs):

A closer look at the ingenious space-saving cribs (bedding has been bought):

Along with beds for staff:

The kitchen is being filled with pots and pans and items to serve:

One of the six large rooms will serve as an office for the full time staff:

A house of mercy is being built.....

Staff interviews are next on the agenda. Please pray that God will guide.
