    Our 9th Baby!

Maureen, our newest resident at Mercy House, gave birth to a healthy 7.5 lb baby boy on April 30, 2013!

He is our 9th baby in the house and we are so excited to have him. He's a miracle.

His young mother has spoken often of her attempts to abort him because she was so desperate and lost. She is already thanking God for rescuing both of them!

She quickly fell in love with her son and we are praising God with her.

    I'm a Domino. Are you?

Terrell and Kristen said, "Yes," to God...and people all over the world said yes with them. Read about what God is doing with all those yesses over at We Are THAT Family.

If you'd like to be a part of this Domino Effect, find out how you can help us love mercy right here. Thank you for your support!

    All Things

Each day is filled with miracles at The Mercy House. Read about the miracle Kristen experienced today over at We Are THAT Family. When Elizabeth came to The Mercy House, her transition was hard, and we feared we would lose her. To see her smiling today is just another reminder that God makes all things new.

    Another reminder that...

Thank you for helping us love mercy!

    Going to the Chapel!

There are few things that make our amazing Executive Director smile as big and as wide as seeing our precious Mommas and Babies growing into happy and healthy young people. However, today something happened that made her smile about as big as we've ever seen:

We are thrilled to welcome Oliver into the Mercy House Family! Congratulations, Oliver and Maureen! We wish you all the best!

    Help Us Build a Playground

Do you want to know what the best thing about starting a maternity home in Kenya is?

Not only do we get to see young girls transform from scared, lonely, hopeless girls burdened with the world and child, we get to help them become mothers and watch them fall in love with their babies who were sometimes products of their abuse and usually unwanted. We now have eight babies--six babies over 1 year old and two 10 month olds. (This past weekend we brought in new girls--more on that later, but please pray for this difficult transition for all involved). Our adorable babies are healthy, beautiful and very mobile.

Because we have so many living in our home, space is often a challenge, as is keeping areas toddler-proof. Maybe it sound familiar? The weather in our area of Kenya is beautiful most months of the year and we've been dreaming of a playground for our babies to roam freely and safely, with a gated area to keep them from wandering off.

Stephanie (co-founder of (in)courage) is celebrating her miracle baby by throwing a baby shower over at incourage today with the help of Pure Charity! And Mercy House gets the gifts! You can be a part of building a playground for our babies and toddlers at Mercy House Kenya! You can learn more here.

Welcome to Rehema House High School:

    How to Make a School:

We had desks and a chalkboard built, bought books and supplies with money you donated and hired some local teachers. We added some very eager students who value the opportunity to learn:

Four of our eight girls are in high school and are so excited to have resumed their schooling to help prepare them for a future and certificate of completion (so important in Kenya!)

We are so thankful for the four part time teachers who are educating our girls (about 5 hours a week each) in:

    Math & Chemistry

    Biology & Agriculture

    Geography and Kiswahili

    English & Literature

The rest of our girls are being taught by a primary teacher. This allows us to help one another, along with the housemothers with childcare.

    One of our prize pupils:

Our school budget is approximately $700 a month. This allows us to hire multiple qualified part time teachers, purchase supplies, and books. Click here if you'd like to be a part of this vision.

The *Easy* Part of Loving Mercy!

    Loving Mercy is hard.

    Loving Mercy is expensive

Loving Mercy will wreck your life, and then wreck it again

    But...

    Loving Mercy is also miraculous.

Loving Mercy is also full of smiles

And, sometimes, Loving Mercy can be as easy as hanging out with your friends and shopping!

Eventually, the girls of Mercy House will leave. When they are ready, they will move out and begin the next phase of their lives: higher education, a small business, or even a home of their own! Each girl will go with our full emotional and spiritual support, knowing that Rehema House will always be a place of love, guidance, and encouragement. They will also leave with financial support: a savings account established with the funds earned from the products they made during their time at Mercy House.

This is how the easy part of loving mercy happens:

The girls make products. You buy products. Your friends buy products.

The funds are used to pay Mercy House's rent and build the girls' savings accounts.

    It's that easy!

We want to spread the word about the Mercy Shop and ourMercy Parties, and we know you can do that better than we can. We've said it before, and we'll surely say it again: Without you, there'd be no Mercy House.

    So, here's the deal:

From now until the first day of Spring (March 20th), we're offering 15% Off in the Mercy Shop using code: SPRING4MERCY.

In addition to that, we're giving you the chance to win a one-of-a-kind Mercy Shop Bundle!

Simply book a Mercy Party in March or April and earn an entry in the Bundle Giveaway. In order to manage our product inventory, we only schedule a few parties each month. There are just a couple of spots left, so sign up quick! (Please choose "Parties - Real Life" as your Category. If you don't hear from us within 48 hours of submitting your form, send an email to mercyhomeparty@gmail.com letting us know that you'd like to host a Mercy Party.)

Thank you so much for helping us love mercy!
