What began as a normal weekly checkup, turned into an emergency with Sarah, our fifth girl to come into our home. She was admitted for monitoring and the doctors diagnosed her unborn baby with dangerous fetal tachycardia. Sarah had an emergency c-section and her baby's compromised cord was causing major fetal distress.

Sarah is joy. Her contagious smile and kind spirit has won the affection of the hospital staff. 

Her Jesus shines brightly.

Her tiny son was born alive.

One can only imagine this ending would be much different had Sarah still lived in the desolate, abusive conditions Maureen found her in.

Please pray for her baby boy. He is small, but fighting to breathe well. Pray for Sarah's new-mother heart.

Each of our seven girls have a unique story. Some have been violently raped, others have been forced into prostitution for food. And some of our girls made poor decisions and considered abortion as the solution. They are all shocking to hear and we never get accustomed to the pain of these young girls. We live in a broken world.

Their stories are different, but the hopelessness and despair is the same. 

We are thankful that our God is the Rescuer, the Healer. 

Our three newest girls: Lucy, Elizabeth and Violet have some of the most traumatic situations we've seen yet. Just their presence in our home is a miracle! Getting them admitted into the safe haven of the maternity home is the first of many. They have many, many hurdles ahead of them. We are asking God for total transformation of their minds, hearts and bodies.

Violet was released directly from a 3 month stay in a Kenyan hospital Burn Unit. Thankfully, she and her baby survived the attack. She is an orphan without a home and we are now her family. We will be sharing more about her story in the future, as she is under weekly medical care and will be needing surgeries in the future. We are believing God to help us pay for all of her medical needs. 

So, that makes 7 girls (4 pregnant) and 3 babies...our food budget just doubled as did our medical expenses (medicines for conditions a couple of the girls have). Thank you for your constant, faithful giving. It's making a big difference!

Welcome to our new girls!

A very nice American family living and working in Kenya emailed asking about a service project for their sons over the holidays.

We love receiving these kind of emails: Mercy House is about families.

We suggested helping clean up the grounds, but they didn't stop there. They asked Maureen what needed to be done. She told them a generous donor had just sent money for a chicken coop and she needed to hire someone to build it.

This kind family offered to build it themselves! Maureen ordered the supplies and we're able to use the extra money for other needs.

They did an amazing job and we're looking forward to fresh eggs! This is also a great opportunity to teach our girls about raising poultry.

We were blessed to be served by this generous family. God cares about the little things!

All this is because you decided to sacrifice a lot for Rehema House, you are part of the vision as together we are making a dream come true.
